It’s Erin’s birthday. She’s 29!
Here are a couple of pics featuring her favorite birthday present, a hammock stand. It was ‘delivered’ on Friday, in anticipation of a rare (for this year, at least) gorgeous weekend in Seattle. Erin loves her hammock, and Bolivar was practically born in a hammock, and takes to snuggling in it quite well. (Rye is more adept at leaping into the hammock than Boli, but is not attuned to the pleasures of relaxing in the hammock yet. Rye has a little trouble relaxing at all unless it’s after 10pm…)
We have a little clump of trees at the top of the yard which are well spaced for holding up hammocks (two side by side, in fact). However, the sad fact is that in Seattle, even in summer, sitting in the shade of a big tree is a little chilly — so that hammock spot rarely gets used. The hammock stand, on the other hand, is portable, so can be moved wherever the sun is — brilliant!
Today we are off to go white water rafting. The weather has decided to hold up, and it looks like we’re in for a good one. The rivers are at their peak right now, as there was heavy, late snowfall this spring, and the snow melt makes for good rafting!
